Simple Equation to Yumminess

Heard of Frito pie?

I had no idea it was a regional treat, but apparently it is. Some say its white trashish, and others think its plain disgusting. I haven't enjoyed the treat since junior high or high school, but I know in 8th grade I had it almost every day for a year straight and somehow didn't wear out my esophagus. I lived to tell about it and am looking forward to indulging in one tonight!

Simply put, Frito pie is a mix of foods that probably shouldn't be combined. It can reek havoc on your digestive system, and probably shouldn't be eaten by people over 20. That said, I have heartburn meds ready to and am looking forward to dinner tonight! :)

Back in junior high, they took a small back and split it down the side, opening it like a bowl. They poured in a ladle of chili and topped with some cheese and VIOLA! LUNCH! This was accompanied with a fake orange drink that doubled the acidic punch of this meal and delighted my taste buds. All of this for a dollar sixty-five. YUM!

I only hope that things like this aren't sold in the schools my children attend when they are older. THE HORROR...and the delight! :)

A sticker and a lolli and all is well with the World! :)

How I wish that life REALLY worked so easily! It does for little ones. Mine is almost four. She has her birthday in January. Life is relatively simple for her at this stage. She gets in trouble when she disobeys and gets treats when she's good. She has very few responsibilities and not a care in the world aside from where her favorite lovey might be found.

Today was the first time I took her in for a shot after talking to her about it at length. She knew that she was going in for a flu shot because everyone in the family was. Daddy goes later this week and mommy goes next week (all different doctors) and her appointment was today. She was frightened and really tried to talk me out of it, but I insisted and explained why.

Its one of the very important "big sister" responsibilities she had. We all share the same responsibility. We have to stay healthy. If one of us gets sick, the chances of mama and baby getting sick are quite high. Baby is not as strong as we are, so we have to try hard not to get sick. She got it, but was NOT happy about it.

So she knew it was coming and I'm not sure if it made it easier or harder for her. She seemed fine until the needle came out. she didn't cry until it went in, but I had a hard time getting her distracted because she wouldn't stop STARING at the needle. She was anticipating it and I think that made it much more painful. She proceeded to cry quite a lot and loudly.

Then when we left the exam room, she picked out her sticker and her lollipop, barely whimpering by this time. In the elevator, she complained to me that it hurt a lot and that she needed to be carried. I tried, but that didn't last long. So, she hobbled along until we made it to the car. Once inside, she tore into her lolli and the whimpers stopped. Her eyes were still wet with tears, but she was all smiles.

Sugar does make the medicine go down...in the most delightful way! :) Mary Poppins sure knew her stuff!

There *MUST* be a screw missing...

Photobucket

Because I just accepted MORE CLASSES! I have a pretty manageable schedule right now and I've been LOVING IT! The idea of teaching more classes and overlapping again is NOT something I relish, but the extra money is always nice to see. I haven't been paid in a long while! Because of the way these classes are spaced, however, I should be getting paid a few more times before the holidays. Always a good thing!

I was hoping that this year would be a nice calm one with less stress, but so far that hasn't been the case. When I have had fewer classes I've had connectability issues or really stressful people in the course with all these special circumstances. It has been aggravating.

And since the move, Josh goes to work later, which means he comes home later, so going out to work has become difficult to do. We are FAR from civilization now (exaggeration), and the places out this way close early. By the time I could get somewhere, I would have very little work time before needing to turn around and head home. Makes it not wroth the gas money back and forth!

The other new development is that I have a *hard* time staying awake! I used to be able to keep myself semi-alert until two a.m. if need be. These days? By 11 p.m. I'm zonked. I notice that I start making mistakes (ore more of them) on my feedbacks to students. Typos and other errors that just don't make me look good! (Thank god for spell check!)

So given my circumstances, I should not have taken on these additional four courses. I wanted to help out the scheduler who asked for help and needed someone to pick up classes starting monday, and I liked the idea of getting paid again before October is over! :)

I also want to get as much done as I can before the end of March (D-day as I like to think of it). After then, I won't be teaching much at all for at least a few months. If this kid is anything like the last one, and the experience is anything like the last one, I'll be "hung over" for a LONG time before I am back in a mental reality. Aside from that, with two kids, I'll no doubt be VERY busy--and tired--and irritable--and lots of other negative adjectives! ;)

Let's hope I didn't make a huge mistake and that I can swing these extra courses without the issues I've already discussed reappearing! I'd like something to go SMOOTHLY for a change! :)

We are finally IN

We relocated over the last week and it has been HELL!

I haven't eaten well or slept much and I'm poopered out! I must have hurt one of my knees (or the back of my leg behind my knee) becaise its been killing me ALL DAY LONG! I'm hobbling along and just hoping it works it self out soon! Hate feeling this way!

I am behind with grading and would like to get to it but today was another busy day. I did do some of the really late stuff but need another few hours of uninterrupted work to get what I need to get done, done. I am hopeful that tomorrow I might get a few hours to work alone! We'll see!

We aren't MOVED IN, however as that would require there to be fewer boxes and crap all over the place in piles. We were so tired from doing things ourselves, things stayed where they were put and now we are scavenging boxes when we need things!

I'm fine with slow going since I cannot be lifting much on my own anyway. Maybe this and next weekend we'll get it all finished! *fingers xed*
